Amy
Elizabeth Godsey, born November 2, 1971, in Dallas, Texas. I lived a very
sheltered, average life with my parents and one sibling. I was approached
at a young age to enter into the world of modeling, but conservative parents,
who thought I was too young, kept me from pursuing the industry.
The
opportunity presented itself again several years later while I was having
brunch with a couple of girlfriends. A gentleman approached our table
and asked me if I had ever considered modeling - I just thought it was
a bad pick-up line. I was in a baseball cap, after all. He gave me his
card, referred to a couple of agencies, and told me to give him a call.
I took it with a grain of salt.
The
next day, I was feeling curious and remembered the name of one of the
agencies he mentioned. I decided to give them a call, and they informed
me of an open call on Thursday - to come by and bring pictures. I was
skeptical. Thursday rolled around, and I decided I was having a good hair
day, so I went to the agency. After waiting through a couple of interviews,
it was my turn. I met with the owner, and told him I was probably too
old and too short. He disagreed. He wanted to sign me on the spot, and
suggested that I have some headshots done first. I didn't think he was
serious, but when he called me the next morning to see if I had made the
appointment with photographer Dan Stroud, I began to start thinking maybe
he was.
Dan
made me feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. He took several
rolls of film, and I was impressed with the outcome. We made our final
selection for the headshot, and it proved to be the right choice.
I
went to work
almost immediately, landing my first audition for an international Nokia
print ad. I went on to do an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. That was
probably the most fun I've had, I didn't want the day to end. The cast
and crew were amazing - we had such a great time that they invited me
to go to dinner after the shoot, with the star of the show Chuck Norris,
and several other cast members. They ended up calling me back for other
episodes, but my agent advised me not to, that I needed to focus on other
auditions and jobs.
I
immediately
fell in love with my new hobby, but still had a full time job to contend
with. Luckily my employer was very understanding and I was able to squeeze
in auditions and other jobs that followed.
My
agent suggested that I enroll in various classes locally, and in doing
so I sparked another interest in an uncharted area of the industry - acting.
This was a great outlet to draw on the dramatic emotional side of me as
well as the sarcastic witty side - something other than the surface. I've
always felt like experience was the best teacher, and that I could get
more by being involved first hand than in a classroom. I'm looking forward
to the opportunity to further explore this area, and am willing to take
the challenge head on.
In
my free time I enjoy staying fit by running, weight training, yoga, and
chasing after my new black lab puppy, Jackson. I love to travel, go horseback
riding, repelling, and would love to go skydiving this spring.
In
July of 2001 my company relocated to El Paso, and I opted to stay in Dallas
and devote my time to pursuing my new career. Unfortunately, after a few
short months, my agency closed its doors. The prospect of signing on with
a new agency has proven to be a challenge, but one that I am passionate
about overcoming. I am confident that I will continue to do well in this
industry, and know that my efforts and my ability will be recognized.
See
you soon
